Bitter Sweet..

This past weekend found us in Camrose, AB for the spring BRCA dog show. The very last show for the puppets as puppies. 

My baby dogs did me proud yet again with some very nice wins against some very nice dogs, but with the first birthday coming up the baby part is almost over. 

The puppets are, if nothing else a very exuberant bunch and one day I hope to channel all their energy in a direction of "my" choice!! I have to say I love their "OMG I am so happy to be here!" attitude even if it means the show ring to them is like a NASCAR track!  All in all they did good and my absolute highlight of the weekend was my first home bred Champion...  Ch Adelyn First Star I See Tonite ~ Wish! 

There is a great deal of credit to be given to all the people who have helped me on this Aussie journey.. My intention is not to make this like an acceptance speech at the Oscars, but to rather say thank you again to my extended dog show family. Without you all and your continued support and encouragement I would not have continued in this direction. 

My website has a "Who we are" page that gives thanks to Cathy Bishop, Debbie Markowski and Trudy Taphorn for a great beginning to the breed. Along the way my Aussie adventure has provided me with many more folks I am proud to call my friends. People who have years of experience and knowledge that are never afraid to share. For newbies like myself all that information is so invaluable and appreciated. So... Thank you to all of you who have taken the time to care!

On the road again...

Wow.. It seems like forever since I have updated this blog! My Bad.. I'll try to do better! 


So the southern Saskatchewan gals (PASE) put on a summer show every year and this is the first time I was actually able to attend! 2 Days.. 3 breeder judges and 1 CKC judge.. 9 hour road trip. Might as well make it worth while and take the whole gang!! 


In the truck went 5.. yes that is correct 5, 13 week old puppies and Ralf.. All the crates, ex-pens, shade tents, buckets, etc to accommodate a crew of this size and off we go! Let me just back track for a second.. The 5 puppets.. Cash (blk tri) is having a summer vacation visit while his new mom is on a judging assignment in BC.. Jury (blue boy) still with me well.. because I love him! Rush (RMF) she is still with me for pretty much the same reason Jury is.. Tag (red boy2) Shelby's boy.. and of course Wish aka Squishy.. Honestly.. Who doesn't need a little red devil in their home! :)


Ralf was going into this show with 13 major ASCA points, no pressure.. just need 2 little bitty points to finish! 


Day 1 Show A - Breeder Judge Regi Gravette


Ralf and Derby get pulled for the last go-round for winners dog and much to my surprise and delight Ralf gets the nod! 3 points to finish!! Back in the ring for breed.. which brought us to Best of Opposite Sex which was the sprinkles on the cake!! :) Best of Breed went to Ralf's half sister Rayne! Beautiful black tri bitch of Jackie Tomayer. 


On to puppies.. Jury showed like a little special.. hitting his free stack like a pro! On to Best of Breed Puppy and little Wish who had a really hard time keeping all her feet on the ground was awarded Best of Opposite Sex Puppy! 
Tag was 3rd and Cash was 4th in his class


Show B - Breeder Judge Clarissa Shank


Moved Ralf up to specials and he was again awarded Best of Opposite Sex! 
Wish once again was Best of Opposite Sex Puppy and Jury was 2nd Tag was 3rd and Cash was 4th in their class. 


Day 2 Show A - Breeder Judge Kristin Rush


Ralf was not feeling well, so I pulled him.. 
Rush's turn this time to be awarded Best of Opposite Sex Puppy.. Jury 2nd, Tag 3rd, Cash 4th in a huge puppy class of 6!! (Majors in the puppy class!)


Show B - CKC Judge Dorothy Hood


Ralf had a nap in the shade.. so he came back out to do the go-around with Derby again and this time the nod goes to the Derbster.. :) BOB was once again the lovely Rayne!
Jury goes BOBP and BOSP is once again the naughty little Wish! 
Tag moves up to 2nd and Cash was 4th in his class!


Thank you to the judges.. It was a pleasure to show my crew to you all!! 


Thank you to Jackie for handling the monkey boy Cash.. He is ring ready now.. :)

Spring is finally here..

Nice change in the weather brought the sunshine on.. which made for the puppers first day outside!! The gang got to meet and great with Ralf (Dad) and Auntie Winnie (Old labbie dog) They even had some people visitors! Full day of excitement for them.


So in honor of the spring-ness in the air.. The theme this weeks photo shoot was just that! Spring flowers! I'll post the outside play shots in a bit.. but for now.. because I know some of you are waiting!! .. Here they are! 4 weeks old!

Happy Easter..

Brings us to week three of the puppers. Eyes open.. legs working.. on the move!! I am amazed at how much they change each and every day. 


A little bit of drama on Saturday night.. Red boy #2 seemed to have some tummy troubles. Belly was hard he was struggling to poop. Off to the vet we go, and you just know these things can never happen on a regular day during regular office hours! At any rate.. Little red boy relieved himself on Taylors sweater on the ride to town, after that he felt much better. The exam revealed some inflammation of his bowel (Colitis) So the prescription was some probiotics and deworm the whole bunch! He's doing much better now! A little newbie nervousness on my part! But better safe than sorry!

Puppy Wrangler..

My youngest daughter Taylor was my assistant the other day for the puppy photo shoot! So.. while she was helping I managed to snap a few of her as well!

Time flies...

When you're staring at puppies! week two has come up already. 

Pups are doing good.. We had eyes on Sunday in honor of my hubby's birthday! How cute is that! Yay.. Black tri boy and Blue girl #2 were the first to open their peepers! The rest are blinking and I would guess they're not far from looking around the pool!

Along with the lookers, most of the gang are testing out their legs! Pretty wobbly still but upwardly mobile. Not long now and Evo will not be able to escape them! :)
